Sam Walker & Gavin Royce

Sam Walker and Gavin Royce crossed paths repeatedly in New York City's early-2000s dance scene before finally teaming up as Walker & Royce in 2011. Their breakthrough came when Crosstown Rebels founder Damian Lazarus discovered their remix of SAARID's "Future Lately," leading to their debut EP "You're Not Welcome" on his label. Around the same time, their track "Connected" (OFF Recordings) became a house anthem after Solomun made it a fixture of his sets. Their 2014 EP "Sister" (Moda Black) was picked as Pete Tong's Essential New Tune, and a chart-topping remix of Baunz's "Out the Window" further raised their profile. The duo later joined Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird Records (with the "Boy" EP and "Hit Dem Draws") and Green Velvet's Relief Records, and released their debut album Self Help on Dirtybird, featuring vocal collaborators including Green Velvet and Dances With White Girls. Known for a quirky, bouncy, distinctly playful strain of house, their sound has evolved from early indie-dance and deep house roots into something more idiosyncratic and immediately recognizable.
