Greg Oreck & Holmar Filipsson

Thugfucker is the New York-via-Berlin duo of Greg Oreck and Holmar Filipsson - one American, one Icelandic, who bonded over a shared, almost obsessive dedication to nightlife and party culture before combining forces in the studio. Their breakthrough single, "Disco Gnome" (2011), marked the launch of the influential label Life and Death, which Greg co-founded alongside Matteo Milleri and Manfredi Romano (later of Tale of Us) - in fact, it was Tale of Us's remix of "Disco Gnome" that became one of their own first club hits, helping build Life and Death's early momentum. Thugfucker's remix work runs deep and wide, including a 2007 remix of Justin Harris's "Whoa Pampas" for Baker Street Recordings' Tom Bone Vibrating Music, alongside remixes for artists including Kasper Bjorke, Compuphonic, and Kaskade collaborators. Never ones for a conventional bio, their own official line reads simply: DJ, producer, co-founder of Life and Death, "someone who prefers spending time with music to writing a bio."
