Dave Aju is a San Francisco-born producer whose sound draws on a wide range of influences — a jazz upbringing via his father, underground hip-hop MC years, Latino house clubs, '90s SF rave culture, and even musique concrète. His 2008 debut album Open Wide was built entirely from sounds recorded using his own mouth, earning him the nickname "The Unorthodoctor" from Resident Advisor. He's released extensively through Circus Company, including three acclaimed full-length concept albums, and has been personally commissioned by Matthew Herbert and championed by festivals including MUTEK.
