Chris Duckenfield

Chris Duckenfield is a Sheffield-born DJ and producer who has shaped the city's club scene for over three decades. He first rose to prominence around 1990 as part of the hardcore-leaning DJ duo Asterix & Space, known for legendary sets at Sheffield's Limit nightclub and on pirate station Fantasy FM. His first production credit came via a 1991 remix of Altern-8's "Infiltrate 202," which sampled his own radio catchphrase ("Watch your bassbins, I'm tellin' ya"). While working at the Warp Records shop, he formed his most enduring project, Swag, with engineer Richard Brown in 1995, releasing through Junior Boys Own and later their own label, Primitive - a partnership that saw collaborators including Matthew Herbert and even Bjork call on their studio remix skills. He has a confirmed Music For Freaks connection via mixing the "Bad Acid" compilation. Today he continues to DJ regularly while running All Ears Distribution alongside fellow Sheffield veteran Alec Greenhough.
